Katharyne Davey

Good day to you. My name is Katharyne Davey. I am an indentured servant in the Washington Quarter, and I was stole away from Caergybi, Wales when I was ten. My father had taken my Brother Gwyn to the docks to get him signed on a respectable ship, (most o us are fishermen and sailors) being his first time and all. (He can go to th devil after that if he wishes, but father wants him to get started out right.) I was sitting on a barrel when someone knocked me on the head and I didn't wake up until we were four miles out to sea! Not that they realy missed me, one less person to share the blanket with. Five brothers, three sisters; three more that died, and me, the seventh. Then there was mam and da, grandma, grandpa, and the two spinster aunts (one a devil, and one a angel). The first aunt tried to teach us all to read, but I never learned. I can mostly be found now, sewing or weaving tape under the trees or attending to the gentry (honestly, if they didn't have me there they'd starve to death!). I can just as often be found sticking pins in the young gentlemen's coats, stealing Master Charles Washington's Hat, or chasing my cousin attempting to get my apron back.

I'm friends with most of the servants (except for a couple of stableboys which I torment). My hobbies are tormenting stable boys, stealing (mostly) food from the gentry, and treading the fine line between threatenings of a thrashing, and actually having it happen. So far I have been lucky.

I would like to speak with you more, but I must go and attend to the gentlemen's pocketbooks.

Until we meet again,

Yr. humble servant,

Katharyne Davey
