Purpose

To instruct young people in the lifestyle of the 18th century citizen of Fredericksburg, Virginia.To instruct young people in the art of first person living history interpretation.To prepare young people to assist in public events held at the George Washington’s Fredericksburg Foundation’s sites and interact with the visitors.

Method

Explore living history interpretation,Explore 18th century history emphasizing that of the Colony of Virginia and, more specifically, of the Town of Fredericksburg,Explore the skills required of gentry children of the period – deportment, writing, ciphering, etc.,Develop a first person character based on the individual’s own interests,Acquire appropriate clothing for the characters interpreted.

 

 


Strayed, or STOLEN, from the subscriber, in Hanover County, near Newcastle, about the 24th of August last, a BAY MARE, about 4 feet 8 inches high, trots and gallops well branded on the near buttock I, and has on her Rump a small white spot. Whoever brings the said Mare to me in Hanover, shall have 20s. Reward if taken in the county, and 30S. Reward if out Thereof.
